Weight loss, productivity and rebellion

Hi Reader,

Have you noticed?

Suddenly everyone’s talking about “intentional rest” and “active relaxation.”

Restorative yoga is having its moment.

It's almost as trendy as lifting weights and eating protein. (Almost.)

Here’s why people are practicing it:

✨ To be more productive and efficient and hence make more $$$
✨ For better hair (yes, really - saw this on a hair loss program)
✨ For glowing skin (face yoga meditation, anyone?)
✨ To look younger (related to collagen and aging process)
✨ For weight loss (you loose weight when you sleep)

Basically? To perform and look better.

Now, I know these aren’t the “real” spiritual purposes behind these ancient yoga practices.

I know the traditionalists are rolling their eyes. 😅

But here’s my question:

Does it matter?

Does it matter if you’re doing it to reach enlightenment or to have better skin?

Does it matter if you’re meditating for inner peace or to be more productive at work?

All I know, is that it’s a good place to start.

But here’s my challenge for you:

What if you did restorative yoga for absolutely no reason at all?

Not to be more productive.
Not to have better hair.
Not to perform better.

Just to… do nothing. In a pose. For the sake of doing nothing.

How rebellious would that be? 💛

In a world that’s constantly telling you to do MORE, to optimize, to hustle, to perform…

Doing less is the ultimate rebellion.

So join us tomorrow, Wednesday, for our monthly restorative yoga special.

Come lie on the floor with props and blankets.
Allow yourself to be led and do nothing for an hour.
Don’t even try to have better hair from it. 😂

Just be. That’s it. That’s the whole class.

See you on the mat (or rather, see you doing absolutely nothing on the mat),

With love,
Krish ❤️

P.S. If you DO end up with better hair and glowing skin from this class? Bonus. But that’s not why we’re here. We’re here to rebel against the cult of productivity. Even if just for an hour. 💛

Hey Reader, Last week we were on holiday. In large and jam-packed lift my twins were doing what my twins do, wanting to be carried at exactly the same time, by me. A woman next to me smiled. She had two daughters with her. The kind of smile that says, I see you. Then she noticed my son. "Oh, you have three?" I said, well actually four, and pointed to my daughter. She looked genuinely shocked. And then, in front of a full lift of strangers, she looked at me slowly drew her finger across her...

Hey Reader, Tomorrow is our monthly Mother's Coaching Circle. ✌️ After last month's session, Sophie (one of our members) left this comment in our members-only group: You see, Sophie had no idea what to expect from "coaching for mothers." Most people don't. Is it advice? Therapy? A support group? It's a space. 💛 A space to say the things you've been thinking but haven't said out loud. A space to rethink the stories you tell yourself about motherhood. A space where someone asks the questions...

Hey Reader, “I’m really enjoying nothing about being pregnant.” That’s what one of my students wrote to me this week. Another asked where that magical 2nd trimester glow everyone talks about is? The thick, blooming hair she's supposed to have by now? Another student's nausea came BACK at week 22 after it was supposed to disappear. And it’s not just pregnancy. On Sunday, I bumped into an ex-student with her two toddlers. I told her she looked great. Her reply? “Thanks, I had a shower today.”...
