🎙️The one thing that changed everything for my anxiety (and it's not what you think)

Hi Reader,

I've been going through a period where I can't even sit in silence for one minute without feeling overwhelming anxiety creep in. As someone who teaches yoga and meditation, this feels particularly embarrassing to admit.

But it's not the usual mum overwhelm.

Every time I read the news or scroll social media, I feel this crushing weight of everything happening in the world - conflicts, climate change, political tension - and then this awful feeling of helplessness because I'm so consumed with caring for my own household and family, let alone make a difference in the bigger picture.

Do you know that feeling? When you want to care about the world, your heart breaks for what's happening out there, but you're barely keeping your own head above water? When your mind is racing between global worries and daily logistics, your body feels restless, but you desperately want to find some peace in the chaos?

That's exactly why I knew I had to share the podcast episode with Tess Jewell-Larsen today.

Tess, a Krish Yoga teacher, and a holistic women's health specialist, opened up about her own journey with anxiety - starting from when she was just 2 years old.

But here's what blew my mind: the tool that helped her (and is helping me) the most wasn't traditional meditation or breathing exercises. It was something much simpler and more accessible.

In our conversation, Tess shares:

  • Why traditional breathing techniques can actually make anxiety worse for some people
  • The simple finger technique that can ground you in under 60 seconds
  • How to tell the difference between stress and anxiety (this changes everything!)
  • Practical ways to feel connected when you're stuck at home with little ones

If you're pregnant, in postpartum, or caring for young children and feeling overwhelmed, this episode is specifically for you.

Tess brings it all together so simply to offer a truly holistic approach to women's health.

Uma Dinsmore-Tuli on the Yoga, Bellies & Babies Podcast

Hi Reader, A few weeks ago my eldest two wandered into the bedroom where I was resting. My 6 year old whispered to her younger brother "Shhh, Mama's resting." And then they both walked out. I smiled. And then I nearly cried. Just a year ago, I would have never allowed myself this "luxury" during the day, frantically using every spare minute for chores instead. This is why my conversation with Uma Dinsmore-Tuli touched me so deeply. She explained that our bodies naturally operate in cycles...
